Durban Poison is a pure sativa landrace originating from the port city of Durban on the eastern coast of South Africa. Collected by Ed Rosenthal and later stabilized by Mel Frank in the 1970s, it became one of the first African genetics to reach Western markets in stable seed form. Its unusually high THCV content contributes to its famously energetic, clear-headed effect profile — and makes it a foundational parent in some of the most popular modern hybrids.
